FASHION OUTREACH PROGRAM (FASHION PERDULI) IN JFW 2010-2011
Femina Group, the organizer of the Jakarta Fashion Week 2010/2011, has used the region’s most important fashion event, which is expected to attract more than 20,000 visitors, to raise funding for its unique philanthropy and CSR activities to help rehabilitation efforts for the victims of Indonesia’s recent natural disasters. The charity effort through JFW is called Pita Fashion Peduli (Fashion Cares Ribbon).
Femina Group has actively involved in providing assistance to victims of natural disasters in Indonesia since 2003. Started from the opening of JFW 2010/2011, Femina Group encouraged JFW visitors to make donations to the victims of natural disasters in Wasior, Mentawai and Merapi. Even Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo took part by donating Rp 50 million. By the fourth day of JFW (10 November 2010), the effort has raised a fund of Rp. 816,500,000.
JFW organizers expect to continue this program until JFW’s closure on November 12th.
The Femina Group typically concentrates on rehabilitative efforts, such as rebuilding schools used by children in disaster-struck area by directly getting involved in turnkey projects. The group has done these activities in Aceh, Padang (West Sumatra) and also Jogjakarta. In total the group had rebuilt 10 schools in those three areas, utilizing a total funds of approximately Rp 7 billion while all overhead costs were carried by the Femina Group.
