The Creativity of Indonesian Talents
The designers of the Association of the Indonesian Fashion Designers Association (Asosiasi Perancang Pengusaha Mode Indonesia, or APPMI) had successfully exhibited the beauty and the richness of Indonesian culture. In the first show that took place in Fashion Tent of Jakarta Fashion Week 2010/2011 on November 10, the APPMI designers exhibited their creativity.
Melia Wijaya produced the theme of “Striking Structures and Deconstruction”, by carrying forms of deconstruction to the waist and the shoulder, with the modern breakthrough of metallic accent. In other respects, Ledie Suwandie lifted exotism of the Javanese and Sumatra culture through the use of the songket technique in combination with batik, with an accent of iron plate. Ninik Darmawan proposed her concern to human indifference towards theenvironment -that finally had caused destruction to the ecosystem- through grey colour which was accented with bold accessories. The models of Ninik Darmawan drew attention with cover masks which were decorated with crystal. Through this collection, Ninik imparted warnings that were wrapped in her glamorous designs.
Dewi Syifa produced a dynamic collection through gowns in light. The batik motifs were blended with elegant colors such as maroon, dark blue and light green that accentuated the beauty of batik.
Ian Adrian, through”Rhapsody in Kutai”, produced ecstatic nuanses from Kutai that were translated through the tone of the collection. Gold eyelet boleros, seethrough gowns and unique skirts decorated the cheerful collection. The show was followed by Afif Syakur’s collection, “Fascinate Square” that exhibited batik from Sultanate of Yogyakarta in pastreen, blue and pink. Various silk-chiffon gowns collection embelished the eye-cathing collection.
Defrico Audy closed the show through his collection of “Tribal Trouble”. Karang Asem traditional textile and tenun Ende were accentuated in ethnic dresses and two-piece outfits. Head accessories, bracelet and sequins that were incorporated in the collection was a reminiscene of the prince and princess of Bali. It was definitely a phenomenal and entertaining show.
