The Nuance Of Three Designer’s Works

Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) 2010/2011, one of the most anticipated fashion events in Indonesia, is only days away, as it will be held from the 6th to 12th November 2010 at Pacific Place, Jakarta. Through the theme of “Styling Modernity”, it is hoped to generate a variety of dialogues between designers, craftsmen, buyers, fashion lovers and journalists.

There are more than a hundred of participating designers in JFW 2010/2011, where some of the famous names include Oscar Lawalata, Ari Seputra and Auguste Soesastro. On Sunday, 7 November 2010, Oscar Lawalata is going to present his work based on collaboration with an English textile designer, Laura Miles in “Weaving the Future” (“Menenun Masa Depan”). They have packaged an exceptional collection that includes talented craftsmen from all across Indonesia. The purpose of this collaboration is to preserve the latent talents whilst introducing the international standard of fashion to the craftsmen without having to neglect the tradition’s strong individuality. This collection incorporates silk textiles as well as traditional textiles from East Indonesia.

Ari Seputra will present a unique fashion show in celebration of 10 years of contribution to the Indonesian fashion world through “Trilogia” that is in conjunction with Indonesian Heart Foundation (Yayasan Jantung Indonesia) fundraising show on Monday, 8 November 2010. This event will be followed by a special acoustic performance from Maera Panigoro, Ari Seputra and friends of Indonesian Heart Foundation.

August Soesastro, who is based in New York, will enlivened JFW 2010/2011 by showcasing his “Kromo” collection; a tribute to Indonesian intellectual women.

The vibrant and distinctive shows of the participating designers will adorn the runway of JFW 2010/2011. Don’t forget to show your support by partaking in this grand yearly event.
