A New Chapter of the Fashion Troops

The long-awaited fashion show Dewi Fashion Knight, in a celebration of 5th anniversary of Dewi magazine, chose 5 caliber designers to embellished Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) 2013). Alongside a theme “The Next Chapter”, the collection of 5 elective designers are expected to brought the new paradigm of Fashion Indonesia.
Echoing the Mod style of London youth in 1960’s, the designers Priyo Oktaviano extremely mixed punkish bad boys and bad girls styles in a unisex collection themed “Ultra Mod”. Volume peplum skirts, pleated Bermuda shorts in geometric motifs, piano keys motifs, and geometric optical motifs were dashingly designed in black and white. Blazer, blouse, legging and pants paired together with The Beatles hairstyle, piercing and dramatic colorful tattoo flourished the show.  The models also donned the super edgy wedges and boots.
Plush intricately details magnetized the intrigue collection of Sapto Djojokartiko. The Laser cut technique is well-applied in the shirt, bodycon dress and blazer. The mutton sleeves in the collection of silver, brown and white dominance showed a twisted spectacular collection.
With transparent watery material as organdy, Deden Siswanto portrayed a gloomy life of needy shadow puppet man. The silhouette H and I of oversized dress and hairstyle in a themed blown-by-the-wind captivated the crowd in the show. The patchwork technique and pleats   in the palette of brown, moss green and khaki beautified the magnificent collection.
Inspired by the symbol of the shadow puppet, Ghea Pangabean depicted its character in digital printing. Fearlessly, Ghea fused the digital printing in crystalline tulle and softy shiny velvet. One of them is the luminous low-cut gown in red, covered by transparent tulle of shadow puppet motifs in back, shoulder and arms.
In the closing, Oscar Lawalata’s couture inspired by 1920 era in Paris adorned the runway. The breathtaking collection portrayed the exotic women swathed in flapper dress with attractive satin fringe echoing Paul Poiret in that era. Almost all dresses he exposed were dashingly designed in midi cutting and backless model. The alluring colors as red, moss green, black, peach orange and mustard were harmonized delicately in the luxurious apparel.
