Appreciation for Indonesia Fashion Experts

Pia Alisjahbana Award (PAA) was held in Jakarta Fashion Week
2013 on November 12th.  A
pioneer of Indonesia fashion industry since 70’s, Pia Alisjahbana rendered the
appreciation  to  individual or community who are reputable
nationally and internationally, being role model and bringing the significant
revolution in Indonesia fashion industry in last 3-5 years. This 5-year award
was bestowed this year after the first award in 2007.   

In Fashion Loft Plaza Senayan Jakarta, the eminent
individual or institution in fashion industry were awarded by Pia A Pia
Alisjahbana, Svida Alisjahbana -CEO of Femina Group-, and the elective judges.
The judges from the fashion industry experts are Susan Budihardjo (designer and
fashion educator), Hanifa Ambadar (Fashion Council and Co Founder Fashionese
Daily) and Chossy Latu (IPMI). The other judges from the business experts are
Rhenald Kasali (academic and practitioners of business), Christine Barki
(Director Metro Department Store), Taruna.K Kusmayadi (APPMI), and Yoris
Sebastian (marketer, Founder & Creative Thinker of OMG Consulting).

Itang Yunas was crowned as the winner of individual category
because of his eminence product development in his various labels especially in
Muslim fashion. The inspiring designer, Itang Yunasz, contributes in business
innovation, diversifying the market and educating the market’s taste. The
epitome of young designers stated that he would adopt the latest fashion and
escort the eastern culture simultaneously. 

Pia Alisjahbana Award (PAA) for institution was awarded to
Cita Tenun Indonesia (CTI). This remarkable institution is considered as having
brilliant industry development from upstream up to downstream. Moreover, their
commitment in conservation of weaving as Indonesian heritage and expanding them
worldwide is some significant aspects to acknowledge Cita Tenun Indonesia (CTI)
as the winner.

In a brand of Kamilaa, Itang Yunasz’s collection embellished
the notable event on that day. Feminine modern Muslim apparel in Indonesian
fabrics with digital printing flourished the runway. The lively ethnic touch
portrayed through gringsing motifs in
vibrant colors. Itang Yunasz and Cita Tenun Indonesia (CTI) are expected to be
the role models for others and simultaneously produce the excellent creations.
