As part of its capacity-building goal, the organizers of JFW held several workshops earlier in the year. One such event was held in September. It was a workshop with a theme “Ready to Wear Success Strategy: Real World Tips”. The event featured prominent speakers including the famous kebaya designer Anne Avantie, General Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Fashion Designers Entrepreneurs (APPMI) Taruna Kusmayadi, designer Raiky Pasha of the Hunting Fields label and Leila Safira, the chief editor of Cleo magazine. The event was held at the Ministry of Trade and was attended by more than 120 fashion business participants.
Banker MS Siregar from Bank BRI, the sponsor of this year’s JFW, spoke on small businesses financing. Meanwhile, Christian Kelly, the Director of Merchandising & Marketing of the biggest fashion retailer in Indonesia, Matahari Department Store, provided many insights in how his firm conducted its buying process.
