Indonesia’s Knitting and Embroidery

Yayasan Sulam Indonesia (YSI) or the Indonesian Embroidery Foundation and Dewan Kerajinan Nasional (Dekranas), or the National Craft Council held an international knitting and embroidery exhibition in early October in Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Senayan, Jakarta. The event was was inaugurated by First Lady Ani Yudhoyono.

“In addition to Indonesia as the host, this festival was also attended by craftsmen from several countries including Mexico, Philippine, South Korea, Vietnam, and Malaysia,” revealed by Minister of Mines and Energy Jero Wacik, the head of this festival. Three designers who have been active in the Jakarta Fashion Week also participated in the event: Albert Yanuar, Hian Tjen and Roemah Kebaya.
