Young High-End Fashion Designers to Go Worldwide

The second session of Fashion Week Fashion Forward (JFW FF) presented 4 designers, Albert Yanuar, Barli Asmara, Jeffry Tan, and Yosafat Dwi Kurniawan, respectively with their high-end ready-to-wear collection. Numerous models who proudly strode on the runway accentuated “Grownup Sailormoon” collection by Jeffry Tan in flirtatious, girly, and sturdy look as it’s seen on the A-line skirt beautified with flower cuts. A series of dress and glittery gown drew attention to drapery accent in it shaped in ribbon at the back of the attire. All collection used in this show were made from stiff high-gloss materials yet still remarkably highlighted women’s curve. The coiffed chignon hairstyle perfected the models ultimately.
Shimmering pearl and crystal over subtle shiny-silk sprinkled throughout Yosafat Dwi Kurniawan’s structured designs, “Antiqued Modernity”. Yosafat elevated his collection to high end taste by included sheer sequin material and stupa pattern for a sumptuous look that was seen on open-cut trench coat and edgy pencil skirt surrounded by high slit detail.
Traditional pattern in a pop color selection which was inspired by Dayak tribe was seen on Barli Asmara collection in this show. Pencil skirt accessorized with yellow and purple fringe dramatically mesmerized the runway. A shocking pink blouse and dress beautified with Dayak pattern evidenced his passion in Indonesia cultural heritage. Followed by an absolute beauty of embroideries in his collection, Barli paraded traditional Dayak motive perfected with abundant beading and feather in accessories.
The winner of LPM Entrepreneur Award 2011, Albert Yanuar, consistently flaunted his delicate feminine dressing in champagne nuance. Inspired by Wayang’s curve, seamed dress dominated the collection entitled, “Shadow of Ma Hyang”. That translated as uniquely disparate skirts and gowns in pencil and mermaid silhouette beautified with well-patterned Wayang embroidery made from copper-like thread. Batik Kawung pattern seen on Wayang was also applied on torso and sleeve. The multifunction transformable dress surprisingly hypnotized the audiences as it’s seen on the peplum detail in skirt which could creatively be functioned as a cape.
At the end of the show, CFE delegation, Wendy Mallem, announced Jakarta Fashion Forward’s winner: Major Minor by Ari Seputra, Sari Seputra, Inneke Margarethe, and Ambar Pertiwi.
