CLEO Fashion Award Winning Party

CLEO Indonesia magazine was back to present CLEO Fashion Award 2013 at the event Jakarta Fashion Week 2014. The awards night for young and talented designers was held at the Fashion Tent, Senayan City, on the fifth day of JFW 2014, October 23, 2013. The show presented 2 categories. The first category was The Most Innovative Local Brand with Alex[a]lexa, Jii, and Olenka appeared as finalists.

Alex[a]lexa brought up a science fiction collection inspired by futuristic buildings and microbiology. Monique Nathalia Soeriaatmadja, the Creative Director of the label, got the inspiration from museum buildings and vivid colors of a scanning electron microscopic that she found at museums she visited. Therefore, the collection produced a series of bright-colored clothing. Digital and sporty nuance was shown through box-sleeve dresses printed with a bright yellow tennis ball pattern and combined with faded gray. An escalator stairs photo print also appeared on other loose dresses.

Meanwhile, Jii’s collection themed Spots was inspired by Dalmatian. Owned by Gloria Agatha, Jii showcased a clean-cut, feminine, and classic collection. It was shown in white straight dresses with a simple dog motif. The Dalmatian motif also appeared on skinny pants and off shoulder tops and a spark of bright orange on outstanding dresses was eye-pleasing.

Olenka presented its Phylogeny collection inspired by the underwater world and processed it with a unique print pattern. Dewi Wangsa, the owner, offered a ready-to-wear collection of swimsuits combined with long tutu-like skirts, two pieces swimsuits covered by transparent shirts, shorts and sweaters, and jumpsuits.

The second category was The Most Promising Accessories Brand with House of Jealouxy, Massicot, and Rosalyn Citta appeared as finalists. House of Jealouxy brought up the wordplay “Write Me Letters as a theme. Andi Yulianti, the designer, combined acrylic, chains, and ropes materials into a typical Cleopatra headpiece and silver veil. The wordplay appeared in a necklace with capital letters such as WILL and YOU and in a fascinating DEAR inscribed belt.

Massicot brought up a collection titled Emotional Landscape that was inspired by the exotic nature. Gemstones with a color gradation, like a turquoise natural stone, looked dazzling. A strong design of turquoise emerged on square-shaped resin necklaces created by Amanda Mitsuri and Ramdhan Muhammad. Rosalyn Citta’s collection was another impressive thing. The label featured a collection Late Bloomers that combined the elements of traditional and modern. Her collection was created through a cold working technique, a process of changing the surface of metal without using the heat. The collection was available in the forms of anklets, necklaces, arm cuffs, and belts.

On the same night, the winners of the two categories were announced. Finally, Olenka and Massicot came out as the winners for the categories of The Most Innovative Local Brand and The Most Promising Accessories Brand, respectively. The winning of Olenka and Massicot followed the glory of Fréj and Identité, the winners of last year’s CLEO Fashion Award for. Their works had successfully stolen the spotlight and been ready to be successful like other CLEO Fashion Award finalists namely Ciel, Hunting Fields, Kleting, Nikicio, Cotton Ink, Milcah, and Sisca Tjong.
