The Glorious Fashion Design Competition (2)

Still from the Fashion Atrium stage, the Fashion Design Competition (LPM) continued to the second half of the show. After the first ten semifinalists (See “The Glorious Fashion Design Competition (2)”) presented their collections, it was time for the last ten semifinalists.
The eleventh semifinalists, Kim Febriani Sandittha, revealed her collection of natural dark colored pieces themed “Contour Delusion”. The next semifinalist, Lilyana Halim, came with “Dared” that was full of bold red colors. Meanwhile, Naomi Annastasia tried to combine two different elements, simplicity and sophistication, in to the very sleek ready-to-wear collection. Consisting of cigarette pants and white blazers, she put some painting-motifs ala Picasso in the clothes.
Natalia Kiantoro exhibited the collection inspired by the ice crystal, glacier and mountains. She interpreted them into the cutting lines and silhouette. Next, Shahnaz Soraya performed the asymmetrical moulage technique which later was made into the flat pattern. On the other hand, Sheila Agatha Wijaya created a melancholic-yet-romantic collection of pencil skirts and embroidered suits. The show continued with the “Chromatic Contoured” collection by Theresa Debby. The concept of the design was two-tone contrast with black and white contemporary cutting line.
The semifinalist number 18, Theresia Law, showed her masculine and feminine looks. There were shirts made from sheer material with embroideries. Yelly Lumentu also presented the unique collection in “Disappear Twin”. The designer did a lot of “dissection” to the collection. The last semifinalist, Yonathan Digo, took the theme “Emergency”. The collection was inspired by the security uniform and the atmosphere at night. Besides wanting to point out a professional look, the designer also intended to add street look to the collection.
This year was indeed a different year for the LPM. For the first time the 20 semifinalists had to make three looks, and for the first time also the judging process was done live in front of the audience. The audience was also given a chance to participate in deciding who the finalists should be.
The judges of LPM have chosen the ten finalists who will compete once again in January next year. After going through a quite long deliberation, the chosen finalists are Diana Nathania, Yelly Lumanto, Naomi Anastasia, Natalia Kuntoro, Carla Handayani, Theresa Debby, Shanaz Soraya, Gina Levina, Frida Nurina, and Christian Wohangara.
The ten finalists were considered to have presented the ready-to-wear collections wearable for active women through the whole day. Besides, the judges also agreed that they not only did make wearable clothes, but they also put their own personalities into them. (Novita Permata Sari, Anggara Dialusi, Imelda Rahmawati/Cleo)
