The Increasingly Innovative Muslim Fashion

It is assured that the advancement of Indonesian Muslim fashion cannot be detached from its people active in presenting their ever new and innovative works, as witnessed in the Indonesia Fashion Forward 2 show, with a group of young Muslim fashion designers such as Nur Zahra, Jenahara and Dian Pelangi.

The show divided in three sequences started off with a cluster of East Europe-inspired clothing, with a theme “Folk Solitude” by Nur Zahra. A variation of flowing and light garments in warm colors like brown, dark blue, maroon and green, was added with floral accessories and pom-poms, transforming whoever would wear the pieces look eclectic and chic. Not to mention, batik prints made in Japanese-shibori coloring technique making all clothes environment-friendly.

The second sequence following afterward was from Jenahara. Taking a theme “Eastern Opulence”, the designer was stunned by the beauty of the exotic Egypt. From its architectural element to its culture was implicit in the collection. A combination of pink, brown, black and white was blended nicely with chain accessories, thus making the whole look androgyny and powerful.

Last but not least, Dian Pelangi closed the show with a theme “Pop Batik”. The title itself is self-explanatory as the colorful batik looked ultra modern with an exquisite touch of stone accessories. Also, the wide-cut or mermaid skirts looked even more unique since Dian combined them with quirky glasses, platform wedges, and batik tote bag. We love all the colors!
