The Rising of Local Brands

Indonesia Fashion Forward (IFF) chose their two designers famous for their ready-to-wear collections, Eridani and Vinora Ng, to present their new offerings on the sixth day of the 2014 Jakarta Fashion Week. Through IFF, Jakarta Fashion Week with British Council and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy develops young talent for the international market.
Through the brands 8eri and Vinora, these two exceptional designers tried to grab the attention of Senayan City visitors with their own personality. They also hoped that more and more people would get to know their labels.
With the theme “Erigami”, 8eri straight away stunned the audience through the dominating ruffles. Eridani who is known for his drapery decorations carried out a new element which was stiff pleats like origami, thus intensified the design line. Dresses, blouses and skirts with unique silhouettes were shown in black, white and green. No wonder if Sanjeev Davidson, the fashion branding expert involved in IFF, called him the “Master Draped”.
Contrast with 8eri which was full of volume, Vinora who was also the 2009 Fashion Designer Competition winner exhibited her collection with simple silhouettes. The androgyny character showed feminine and masculine sides at the same time that were present in every look. Inspired by the ‘90s look and neutral colors like brown, black, white and green as well as metallic sprinkles, the collection had a minimalist look in every piece. Vinora also experimented with playful element, from brown coat with the unfinished sewing detail to wool material embossed with unique floral prints. (Aulia Fitrisari/Femina)
