BEKRAF: Let’s Talk about Creative Industry
At Jakarta Fashion Week 2017, fashion show was not the only attraction; there were talk shows about fashion industry and its creativity. One of them was a talk show with Indonesian Creative Economy Agency (BeKraf) on 26/10, discussed about its role in elevating creative industry in Indonesia. Ricky Johannes Pesik, Deputy Chairman of Indonesian Creative Economy Agency, was present as main speaker of the talk show in The Hall, 8th Senayan City.
The significant contribution from creative economy urges government to give more support to the industry across the nation. In the future, government has a goal to make it as the backbone of Indonesian economy.
The creation of Indonesian Creative Economy Agency was antecedent step to obtain that goal. Through its eight subsectors (application, development, architecture, interior design, visual communication design, visual communication design, product design, film-animation video and fashion, photography, handicraft, culinary, music, publishing, advertising, theater, visual arts, film and television), this agency is responsible to develop national creative economy.
Pesik said that the capacity of this agency was not merely to give training in order to produce better product, but also gave training about marketing, management, packaging, and acted as a bridge for modern e-commerce to find new ways to sell product.
““Bekraf has mid-term and long term goal for Indonesian creative economic. The mid-term is giving a friendly access to get aid fund from government-owned banks to creative economy industry, UMKM (Small Micro Medium Enterprises). For long term, we would like to see trademarks becoming collateral to pledge a loan. We also hope that every association and community from creative economy industry has a same standard to produce high quality product,” concludes Pesik.
