British Council “Fashion Future” for Jakarta Fashion Week 2017

Collaboration between British Council and the winners of Graduate Fashion Week, a platform for distinguished students and fashion graduates, presented Billie Jacobina and Rosella May (24/10/2016). Both designers had done residency program in two renowned Indonesian fashion labels under Indonesian Fashion Forward (IFF), i.e. SOE Jakarta and LEKAT.

The collusion between Rosella May with SOE Jakarta was kicked off with a residency program in Pekalongan to study textile industry comprehensively for 3 months. Based from that experience, Rosella and SOE Jakarta colored the clothing in warm colors, such as brown, cream, broken white with effortless cutting, with intriguing and symmetrical silhouettes.  These impressive details turned their collections to live.

On the contrary, the partnership between Billie Jacobina and LEKAT started with a residency in Baduy for the same amount of time as Rosella. The living experience in Baduy exploded in bright colors with startling digital printed fabrics. In spite of the casualty cuts, the collections from BillieJacobinaXLEKAT yet managed to be chic.

The collaboration of RosellaMayxSOEJakarta and Billie JacobinaxLEKAT was undoubtedly succeeded in blending original ideas from both designers. Most importantly, the show was definitely a treat for audience’s eyes for its design, color and avant-garde art.
