From Taj Mahal With Rina Singh
Jakarta Fashion Week re-collaborated with Embassy of India in 2017. On October, 23 in Atrium Senayan City, the sustainable fashion theme was unfolded by label, EKA.
EKA flaunted Spring/ Summer 2017 Collections in bohemian style with various motives: strips, squares, embroidered flowers, traditional frills, and many more. Speaking about colors, EKA was more inclined towards bright colors, such as pink, yellow, blue and turquoise.
Those dazzling collections were a collaboration product between Rina Singh, the designer behind EKA, and local craftsmen. The materials used by EKA were from textile industry in India that promoted quality and practicality.
Rina Singh started to commercialize EKA as a label in January 2011. In 1998, she was granted Chairman’s Scholarship to study fashion in England, and successfully was bestowed the Elle India Graduates Award in 2015. One year after that, she was nominated for the prestigious International Woolmark Prize 2016/2017 for womenswear category for India, Pakistan, and Middle East Regional.
