“I am Still a Woman”, A Fashion Statement about Cancer
Coincided with Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2016, Iwet Ramadhan presented a charity fashion show with a title, “I am Still a Woman”, a collaboration with global pharmacy network, Mundipharma. The creation was unfolded at Jakarta Fashion Week 2017 on Sunday, October 23rd and all profit will be donated to Indonesian Cancer Foundation.
From the collections, Iwet admitted that he was inspired by Sarinah, the nanny of Bung Karno; a strong and independent woman. Sarinah’s inexhaustible spirit gave Iwet insights to create the art works that represented the power of Indonesian women striving the cancer. This courage was well-translated in ready-to-wear collections.
As motive in “I am Still a Woman”, Iwet took ginkgo leaves as the main concept. He opted for this plant because ginkgo is well-known as an additional medicine for a cancer patient when they undergo a chemotherapy process. This ginkgo motive were intertwined with brown colors, parang and lurik patterns, and bright colors (red, bue, yellow).
Not merely models, the show of “I am Still Woman” also involved cancer survivors and cancer fighters, i.e. Triesna Jero Wacik, Sendy Yusuf, Marcella Zalianty, Rima Melati, Moza Pramita and Ayu Rosan.
