Patrick Owen’s Excursion to China

Denim drift is to believe as the color of 2017. AkzoNobel, the paint and coating company behind Dulux, revealed that prediction. To emphasize its daily application, Dulux conspired with the designer, Patrick Owen, creating clothing collections dominated in blue.

Held on main runway of Jakarta Fashion Week (25/10), Owen combined flowers motive with printed digital technique in clothing that cling to body. The addition of black accent with translucent fabrics made this collection hardly a Chinese royalty vase. The edginess in this Asian fusion was eminently palpable, as how we know Patrick Owen’s work.

Quite similar with his private collection form early this year, Owen applied Qipao in most of his creation. He elected monochromatic colors with the iconic details of Pankou buttons. His collection this season was rather unusual with the seductive boudoir style, little tiny waist, flower embroidered stocking, transparent material, and beads on the hemline.

Owen also introduced smocking technique in some of his looks, either through additional clothing or outerwear. Presented in silent movie style, models wore bob wigs, round glasses, beret, with oxford mule pump and espadrilles, were strutting languidly with a narrative poetry as the background.
