Summery Spirit at Indonesia Fashion Forward Show

The incubation program, a collaboration project between Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW), Indonesia Creative Economic Agency, and British Council—Indonesia Fashion Forward (IFF), has been undisputedly succeeded in raising young designers with their best work. It could be vividly seen in Indonesia Fashion Forward presents Jenahara, Ria Miranda, Milcah, dan Jii by Gloria Agatha on JFW’s first day, Saturday, October, 22nd 2016 at Fashion Tent JFW 2017.

The show was unfolded with the latest 12 collections from Ria Miranda Signature, by Ria Miranda. The modest wear clothes had feminine nuances; dominated by soft colors, beige, purple, light purple, peach, and dusty pink, red maroon. For this summer 2017 collections, Ria Miranda brought forward the loose cutting style, i.e. wide pipe pants, pleat skirts, sequin tops, kimono, and flowery modern poncho. Ruffles, knotted technics, and the favorite bell arm were also identified in her collections.

Unlike Ria Miranda, Milcah revealed a collection that unrelated with any season, it’s called “Serene”. Inspired by clear blue sky, sea, and the serenity of pasture, the brand that masterminded by two sisters, Faustine Arthaputri dan Eda Arthaputri, emerged with collections with tie-dye technics as a main theme. The designs with loose cut, drapery, tassels, and fringe, flower embroidery pattern were the harmonious signatures in its collections. The well-chosen congenial organic materials were eminent commitment from the winner of "The Most Innovative Local Brand" Cleo Fashion Awards 2011.

A subtle punk style was impenetrable when Jenahara Black Label displayed its 12 collections, “The Writer's Song": a brilliant twist for its edgy modest wear. Influenced by Patti Smith, the Queen of Punk, these collections exuberantly disclosed the easy matched loose pants with solid minimalistic design. It also toyed with letters and words from Patti Smith’s songs in its collections. Moreover, Jenahara obviously was not a faint-hearted soul by injecting modern edgy elements in its modest wear. It was boldly seen in its leather jacket with eyelets details and body harness as an add-on touch (a collaboration with House of Jealouxy). This was definitely a brand new perspective for all modest wear devotees.

Jii by Gloria Agatha was a conclusive show on IFF runway. “Quack Quack”, collections of multifunctional summer clothes, triumphantly stole the limelight. With the present of the iconic adorable Balinese duck, Gloria Agatha bewitched audiences with her collections: loose-off-shoulder summer dress and its balloon sleeve came to live with “Birdeye Weave” print, colored in orange or straight edge monochrome. Gloria Agatha also collaborated with Hummingbird Road in hat collection and Teresa Mutiara in sandals.
