Barli Asmara Shows Off The Exceptional Beauty of Batik and Songket of Jambi

On Monday afternoon (23/10/2017) show, Barli Asmara took national two distinctive clothing materials, Batik and Songket, up on stage. That was the second show for the illustrious designer at Jakarta Fashion Week 2018.

Barli designs Batik in soft materials, namely chiffon, semi-silk, viscose, and organdy with casual dan light cutting, making each piece comfortable and proper to wear in daily activity. In batang hari, rubber tree leaf, broken durian, palm oil tree, rattan, kelupaku, and other motifs, the exceptional Batik collection was so appealing.

Other than Batik, Barli works on beautiful Songket weaving. “Jambi Kain Negeriku” is a label under his mentorship that sustains the values of cultural heritage, in particular Jambi. To expand the even-bigger market, different than the usual Songket colour we know, Barli presented the original Sumatran clothing weaving, and Batik too, in soft pastel colours. A challenging experience, admits the designer.

In Barli Asmara’s hand, both cultural fabrics are uniquely beautiful. It was a sweet surprise for the audiences who gave the designer a long loud applause. Like Barli, we hope that both collections not only win over domestic runway.
