Indonesia and Australia Collaborates in Developing National Fashion Industry

Jakarta Fashion Week and Australian Embassy collaborated to present Australian fashion designer Chris Ran Lin and two Indonesian Fashion Forward labels, Jenahara and Monday To Sunday. Both Jenahara and the two young designers Monday To Sunday are alumni of the Australia Awards program, a gift of education from the Australian government. All this is one of the proof of the good cooperation between Indonesia and Australia to advance the fashion industry of the country.

In Fashion Tent, Chris Ran Lin presented his detailed design with intricate knit patterns. With humble materials like wool, the designs of the 2016 and 2017 International Woolmark Prize nominee give a soft feel but still feels masculine. The young designer also uses strong colors, such as army green, blue, black, and brown in his ready-to-wear design.

Talking of bold tones, Jenahara Nasution, the beautiful hijaber who founded Hijabers Community Indonesia, demonstrates her JENAHARA muslim fashion latest collection dominated by green naunsa soldiers. The nuance seems to be in harmony with Jenahara's desire to present the concept of battlefield, with an insistent message, that it is not easy being a woman in the modern era, for assuming a lot of responsibility. Therefore, women should be tough-minded and still maintaining her self-esteem.

On the same stage, Dita Addlecoat and Mellyun Xing showed off their Monday to Sunday fashion collection, a label made by them that existed since 2009. With daily casual style, this collection is loaded with natural nuances with boho style. At the press conference, Mellyum Xing explained that all the coloring of fabrics for this collection is natural and the making of the motif was done traditionally. Carrying the sustainability fashion passion, Monday to Sunday presents the back-to-nature theme in their work.
