Swedish Fashion Charms at Jakarta Fashion Week 2018
The show was open with House of Dagmar. FYI, the clothing line was founded in 2005 by three sisters, namely Karin Söderlind, Kristina Djäder, and Sofia Wellenstam. The fashion house is located in Stockholm, the capital city of Sweden. From the start, House of Dagmar has comitted to only create expressive, artsy, and detailed clothing. Such commitment appears on every piece showed, giving away the simple and casual impression, without losing its elegance. A little touch of nature, such as leaves, adds natural touch. The colors white and tosca green enhance the softness.
In the second part, Uniform for The Dedicated also performed in a cool and calm way. The men clothing line combines casual and formal style, consistently focusing on contemporary street wear. Although the line is generally calm, the body fit silhoutte, expressive cut, and more colours make this label ‘noisier’ in each piece. At the press conference, it was also mentioned that the label, assembled in Portugal, only uses enviromental friendly and organic fabrics.
When it’s time to bring the curtain down, “Sustainable Swedish Fashion”, the theme of the show, presented Hope Stockholm, which has existed longer than two previous labels. Hope Stockholm bestowed Swedish signature cut: casual and formal in modern and extravagant design, suited for its mission, “quality without comprimising”. Like two previous labels, Hope uses neutral colours: black, white, brown, and grey. However, if House of Dagmar only has woman collection and The Dedicated has man collection, HOPE showed both worlds. Judging the woman clothing Hope presented, it gave options for career woman to be in feminine or masculine style. Both are elegance ridden.
In three shows that were placed at Fashion Tent, the embassy of Sweden appeared to conciously inserted its culture uniqueness that is simple and calm. Other than fashion show, Sweden also participates by giving sporadic exhibitions called “Swedish Fashion Stories”. You can find them on the first floor in Fashion Atrium area and at Fashion link on 8th floor Senayan City Mall. If you cannot visit them all, just find them on Instagram and type #iniswedia. Be ready to be charmed in Swedish way
