Contemporary Modest Fashion

The advancement of Islamic fashion industry in Indonesia obviously cannot be separated from the role of the icons who actively presenting the latest collection which full of innovations. As shown in the second Indonesia Fashion Forward show on October 24, 2015, in Jakarta Fashion Week, there are four young designers who are already recognized both in local and international markets.

Ria Miranda brings the concept "Legacy" by presenting Minang culture in her modest wear collection, emphasizing modern silhouette. Her collection is dominated with embroidery techniques and Swarovski sequins applied on songket, satin, and silk, giving luxurious touches to her collection.

ETU by Restu Anggraini brought forward "The Rationalist" adding a nice touch to modest wear by displaying boyish and masculine silhouettes. ETU is still presenting their signature boxy and oversized details with origami techniques and asymmetrical cuts. With IKYK, Anandia Putri brings the concept of "The Poetic Warriors" using the ethnic techniques such as weaving, applied in her basic modest wear choices. The unique thing is, the materials that she used such as linen and organic cotton have a natural colors that feels earthy. “Visionary” is Norma Hauri’s theme, showing classical techniques in her pieces through modern fabrics like jacquard, taffeta, lace, and cotton materials mostly colored in black, white, and metallic.
