Parade of Beautiful Flora and Fauna Jakarta
The consistency of Dekranasda (National Crafts Council) Jakarta to promote local handicraft products resulting in a great achievement. The three member designers has passed Indonesian Fashion Forward program and they got mentoring classes from Indonesian Fashion Forward to get ready to compete in international markets. Dekranasda is back featuring their best designers in Jakarta Fashion Week 2016.
The show is held on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, coincide with Hari Sumpah Pemuda (Youth Pledge Day), the ten elected designers has the task to translating icons Jakarta including plants and animals, such as salak fruit condet, jasmine gambir, nona makan sirih flower, eagle bondol, butterflies and bulus into their design elements.
With the total six styles for each designer, it immersed in theme “Lenggak Lenggok Flora Fauna Jakarta”. The first show is featuring Roemah Kebaya by Vielga with tapak dara flower as the main object. Short-sleeved Kebaya look so casual paired with bright colored skirt that ready to give the spirit in the morning.
Dara Dara by Dwi Arlina collection is inspired by bondol eagle, this short-haired designer chose print techniques to describe the image of eagle and using denim as one of her materials collection. The image of street children can be felt when watching her show.
The harmonious life by living together with the nature has inspired Riana Kesuma, she decided to chose nona makan sirih flower, kipasan belang birds and butterflies as the elements in decorating her clothing collection. It presented in faded colors, kebaya kerancang and batik tulis. Her collection is suitable for evening events.
No one knows that bulus animal could be interesting when in applied in fashion items. As it has created by Novita Yunus in her brand, Batik Chic. She used mosaics techniques adorning the bags and batik patterns on some tops. The next show is Mahadevi. Brings the elegance of batik kebaya with none and encim style, the designer Herlin Vidya succeed in liven up aristocrat style by selecting velvet materials which dominated by black skirt.
The beauty of the flower has inspiring Ayundavira for her Artina brand collection. But she gave a twist typical of autumn by putting the beauty of flamboyant flowers, rice crust, and bungur on monochromatic colors batik cloth. On the other hand, different image presented at Dara Baro by Dimita Agustin with her flexible clothing blend in metallic colors, such as gold and copper, butterfly-shaped accessories.
The other designer, Pradipta by Nita Seno Adji chose lightweight materials as well as the two previous designers. There are organza, silk, tafetta and tulle lace, embroidered flowers also displayed in almost all of her collection. Close to the end of the show, Inez Mardiana for her brand Jasmine Teas presenting black kebaya embroidery decorated with yellow betel leaves and butterflies, combined with the cloth used as long skirts.
Betawi house by Emma Damayanti appears at the end of the parade, centering evening gown as her main collection. The embroidery teleng flowers and rice crust in green, pink and gold gowns presented has become the perfect closing for Dekranasda fashion show at Jakarta Fashion Week.
