The Future Through the Eyes of a Fashion Knight
Every year, Dewi Fashion Knights (DFK) became one of the most anticipated shows on Jakarta Fashion Week. Introducing talented designers that has huge potential in the fashion industries, DFK also serves as an enclosure to the Jakarta Fashion Week.
This year DFK brings out five designers, which are, Felicia Budi, Haryono Setiadi, Lulu Lutfi Labibi, Perggy Hartanto and Rinaldy A. Yanuardi. These designers were personally selected by the Chief Community Officer and Head Editor of Dewi; Leila Safira, Jati Hidayat; Editor for Large Dewi, business women Christine Barki, actress Dian Sastro and lastly photographer Davy Linggar. Jakarta Fashion Week enlisted the theme “Eyes to the Future” for this year’s show; and as it said the hopes are high to the expansion of the fashion industries in Indonesia.
Before the big show, Svida Alisjahbana, the General Chairman of Jakarta Fashion Week 2016 points out important facts becoming the highlight of the fashion week, like, collaboration between designers and how important it is to run a moderate business in fashion. Following the five designers showcasing the collection with “The Rouge Effect” filled with the color red. The design was an outcome of collaboration with Magnum Infinity Raspberry.
Revel to experiment on extraordinary fabrics, Felicia Budi with “fbudi” enliven a collection made of organic weaves, complete with the beige and natural colors. The collection was anything but dreadful, with a unique cut, drapery, folding technique it manage to steal the spotlight. Afterwards, Lulu Lutfi presents a collection wild with prints. Combination of floral and traditional ethnic prints are what decorates the Japanese Kimono-inspired cuts. Complete with the obi and tops in weave and metallic weft.
Following the show was Haryono Setiadi with a modern and futuristic designs. More into the minimalist and sophisticated silhouettes, a little touch of sexy through the shape of the neckline, turtle neck and low cut crew. Exposing the shoulder, which was the style for this collection, stood out the beauty of the wearer.
Famous for the clean and flowing designs, Peggy Hartanto made a shocking appearance of the ‘unfinished’ detail. Inspired by under the sea with cool colors, such as, blue, green, and silver.
Parting, senior accessories designer, Rinaldy A. Yunardi took up the voice of admiration from the crowd with a futuristic of his collection. Headpieces and other accessories resemble the extraterrestrial life of outer space. Sterling with the spirit of the female fighter, that inspired this collection. Alluring to the fact that it maybe modern but the earthy and nature feel is still there, in colors like brown and beige.
In the end, DFK proves that fashion isn’t bout clothes and all that, it can also be a media for unlimited imagination; along bringing changes for the future.
