Celebrating the Glorious Archipelago Weft
Indonesia’s archipelago wefts are indeed the fairest of them all. The third day of Jakarta Fashion Week enacts a particular appreciation titled, "Trone". Six designers present the overriding story of the remarkable fabric.
Set up by the beauty of batik “prada”; Anniesa Hasibuan in Sasikiranacharacterize this collection with shades of gold that is glamorous. Anniesa characteristically glamorous look of couture clothing reflects on 16 dazzling piece; these aredress with prada batik gold sequined, blackgathered robe with gold accents, and a luxurious satin evening dress with embossed roses and sequins. Gold-colored wedding dress with a long tail withprada was impressive. Anniesacompletes the look with crown accessory of various sizes.
Followed by Nirvana Atmanegara by Chintami Atmanegara; it displays the beauty of Javanese batik “Hokokai” featuring butterfly, cherry blossoms accents, as well as bright colors in a very wearable collection. Pastel green, bright yellow, bright pink, and orange terracotta combined with batik fabrics complete the look for the skirts and short jacket.
Dyah Ayu Andari continues the story in Gending of Rose; a Palembang songket displayed very modern both in color and silhouette. Earthy color of theSongket such as dust, soil and sky bluecomes out on classic pieces, but not weary. Some made with detailed embroidery, Swarovski pearls, lacey-rose accents in some parts. There are 10 ready to wear pieces displayed, 5 party dresses, and 2 wedding dresses.
The Songket weft has become the high class spectacle thanks to designer Kursien Karzai in Maravhilosa Ulos, the amazing Ulos. Kursien showcases bold and simple striped dress in a ready to wearpiecewith a Victorian twist. The beautifulUlos weft was turned into cape, jacket, and long dress. The beauty of the colors and prints never fail to amaze the audience. This is a blend of colors and pattern between the humble ulos fusion with luxury, modern and elegant mix of gold.
Label Lumiere launched by Rashid Salim and Radot presents the Heritage of Gowa. Taking inspiration from the Gowa women dressesthen turning it into a modern easy to mix and match piece; like one orange-red woven jacket; it’s so contemporary. The Makasar woven weft rich with natural colors such as copper red, green lemon, and turquoise it looks vivid in long silhouettes; like jackets, tunics, bolero, bouffant, pipe pants to peasant skirt. Lightweight cotton blend, also fancy chiffon-lace makes collection very tempting to wear.
Concluding the Trone is Khanaan Shamlan. Titled collection “Identity” urges the philosophy of the Kawung print. With a look that is modern and light, the Kawung print was applied to not only in the form of a typical batik print, but instead use as embroidery, sequins, crystal asfour, also beads. The collection features friendly color similar to of chocolate milk, silk fabric that floats to thecalves and grey-blue tunic with a full pattern design; creating this collection perfect for any occasion even encircle the modest style.
