Celebration of Youth Pledge (Sumpah Pemuda) by IPMI
The unity of the various tribes in fight together to be one nation is an inspirational history for IPMI (Indonesian Fashion Designers Association). IPMI has invited the five member designers and the expert fashion stylists to collaborating in creating collection at Fashion Week 2016, coincided with the Day of Youth Pledge, October 28, 2015. "SATOE" is the concept of the show. The five designers involved are Yongki Budisutisna, Carmanita, Danny Satriadi, Tuty Cholid and Mel Ahyar, brings traditional Indonesian fabrics that has been explored and designed based on their own imagination and creativity. The collection is styled and presented uniquely by the five fashion stylists, Tengku Arshya, Dewi Utari, Rajasa Pramesywara, Adi Surantha, and Thornandes James.
The show was started by Carmanita and Dewi Utari that evoke the nationalism through contemporary batik collection in red and white colors. Repetition patterns which created by the scratch of brush was displayed in the dominance of blouse with a simple drape, sweetened with big ethnic necklace.
Yongki Budisutisna featuring ornaments from Sabang to Merauke through colorful ethnic blouse with A-line silhouette completed with lace materials. Woven and batik patterns were applied on the fabric materials to the application of embroidery. Tengku Arshya created the various accessories, such as large earrings, bracelets and necklaces in the form of a dream catcher to make the collection more playful.
Danny Setiadi with his second brand, Arkamaya, brings Javanese culture in his collection together with Pramesywara Rajasa, titled "Memayu Hayuning Bawana”. The conventional collared dress silhouette presented in a different way with the combination of flower, batik parang mixed with Cirebonan patterns, using transfer paper technique. Their presentation was opened with Tompi’s soulful voice, presents a collection with Papua elements like the rubber strap on wrists and ankles.
In order to honor our heroes, Mel Ahyar and Thornandes James made a mini collection called "Shadows". Camouflage patterns which attached with military thing, printed on transparent fabrics, mixed with gold-colored solid materials, making the oversized silhouette look tough and strong. The details look also can be seen in their accessories collection.
When the all four designers presented an easy silhouette, Tuty Cholid and Adi Surantha has shared the different things. Apparently basic clothing cut applied on shirts, blouses, and skirts with jeans materials, wool scarves, snake-textured textiles with metallic blue colors, successfully presented by Adi Surantha into different fashion inspiration. It is extremely unique and unusual.
