Dazzling Collections from 6 BNSD Students

West Sumatera was the major insight for student collections from Binus Northrumbria School of Design (BNSD) at Jakarta Fashion Week 2017, Tuesday (25/10). Those collections were revealed in fashion show, HIKAYAT, Tales of Minang, from 6 brands of 12 students of BNSD.

These collections were the mixture of heritage and tradition of Minangkabau cultures in a brand new design, without dismissing its original characters. Despite of that, the inspiration also descended from Bukit Barisan’s landscape and various flowers from that area.

6 students-also-designers from BNSD were Kambari, Aksu, Duaru, Gampa, DNA, and Ablazed. Each one amplified their own signatures, such as Kambari with feminine and minimalistic sillhoutes. In the other side, DNA and Ablazed emphasized cut loose clothing and dynamic-provocative street wear.

To accomplish the collections, BNSD conducted a research trip for 5 days with students to West Sumatera in order to explore its cultura heritage. The trip also gave them opportunity to direcly interact with local craftsman.
