Didi Budiardjo’s Colour Trends Interpretation

Colour trends are something crucial in fashion – used in all terms of fashion-making especially in creating a theme for looks and collections.

In Jakarta Fashion Week 2016, Dulux presents the newest collection from prominent Indonesian designer Didi Budiardjo, inspired by Dulux Colour Trends 2016: Linen, velvet, metallic and marble. A total of 24 looks can be seen in the Dulux fashion show Wednesday, October 28, 2015. Didi separates those looks into four sequences inspired by the colour trends.

Marble is displayed in a light, flowing silhouettes decorated with stones colored in marble shades as accessories. Metallic was interpreted through a simple cut dresses. Didi also shows his love for natural Indonesian fabrics by using 80 years-old woven fabrics from Palembang as pocket details.

In his linen collection Didi presented big, fluffy princess gowns made by linen fiber, dominate with pastel colors such as white and yellow with colourful patterns. The last one contains gowns made from devore velvet fabrics that gives waterfall silhouettes, translated into straight-cut dresses with dark colors, such as brown, maroon, blue and black.

Overall, Didi’s show is a delightful experience nuanced with traditional music with a strong modern-disco element.
