Ghea and The Fashion Design Competition (LPM) Alumni in JFW 2010/2011

Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) 2010/2011 proudly presents Ghea Panggabean’s fashion show to celebrate her 30 years of dedication in the Indonesian fashion world. It will be held on Wednesday, 10 November 2010 at the Fashion Tent at 20:30, where Ghea will present her retro and latest collections in “Ghea: 30 Years Dedicated to Fashion”.

Ghea Panggabean, who won the 10th Best of ASEAN Designers Award in Singapore in 1987, is renowned for her classical and ethnic clothing line that is heavily influenced by Indonesian cultures. “Firstly, as an Indonesian designer, I feel obliged to promote Indonesian cultures. Secondly, I want my work to be more than just a piece of art, where it satisfies both the classical and art element simultaneously. Like a painting, it withstands the test of time and it can still be appreciated from time to time,” Ghea explained.

Another anticipated event at JFW is “JFW Fashion Council Presents Fashion Design Competition (LPM) Graduates: The Style Maker” that will be held on Thursday, 11 November 2010 at the Fashion Tent at 20.30.  As the show title imply, it will showcase the works of LPM’s alumni that had successfully penetrated the Indonesian fashion industry throughout the years, such as Chossy Latu, Itang Yunasz, Carmanita, Denny Wirawan, Andreas Odang, Billy Tjong, and Eny Ming.

Jakarta Fashion Week 2010/2011 is to nurture the growth of Indonesian fashion industry and help position Jakarta and Indonesia as one of Asia’s fashion capitals. For more information on Jakarta Fashion Week 2010/2011, go to www.jakartafashionweek.co.id
