Hengki Kawilarang: The Inspiring Diva

Whatever the celebrities or divas wear always grab our attention; from the glamorous dresses to the sparkling jewelry. Starting off from his experience in designing for some Indonesian divas, Hengki Kawilarang presented his “Diva” cocktail and evening dresses at the Fashion Tent of the 2014 Jakarta Fashion Week on Wednesday, October 23.

At the beginning of the show, there was a video conveying the glamorous life of a diva. Then, the parade of cocktail dresses translated what was in the clip. Sequins, velvet and lace dominated the collection, with beads and stones giving a shiny look to the mini cocktail dresses. Black and nude also dominated. Flower embroidery and feather ornaments strengthened the diva look. The body-fit dresses looked even more glamorous with the flowing chiffon on the back. 

For the next section, Hengki brought out the collection of gold and silver long dresses, mixed with black, red and purple colors. Sequins and stones still dominated. On some dresses, the sequins were structured into glowing fringe on sleeve and waist, swaying to the rhythm of the body. Other dresses had peplum cutting covering the hip perfectly, and several others with one shoulder and high side split exposed the beautiful shoulder and lean leg.

The posh collection of Hengki Kawilarang was completed by the platform shoes from Vicky Shu, the owner of Syu Shu shoe brand. Accessories like rings, necklaces, bracelets and clutch bags from Toko Renda also perfected the looks. The show was closed with the floor-sweeping red dress.
