Indonesian Designers at the Paris Fashion Week

Jakarta Fashion Week, as the platform of Indonesian fashion week, surely but sure is bringing Indonesian fashion to the world. “This year, four designers or labels of Indonesia Fashion Forward program have stepped on to the next level, which is participating in the Paris Fashion Week in September 2013,” said Svida Alisjahbana, the Head of 2014 JFW.
The four designers are Toton, Yosafat, and Major Minor which showcased their collections to international buyers at the Trace SS14 Paris Showrooms in Paris, and Tex Saverio which presented his collection at the Paris Fashion Week.

Toton brought his collection inspired by the beautiful Indonesian seas, while Yosafat chose the jewelry of National Museum as the inspiration. Major Minor took traveling as the theme and Indonesian ikat fabric is the main material. All collections showed were a part of 2014 Spring Summer collection.

It is because of many supports that those four designers could fly to Paris Fashion Week and present their collections. “Ministry of Commerce also works together with the Jakarta Fashion Week to improve the talent of local designers and fashion people; one of the ways is by creating workshops,” said Dody Edward, the Director of Pengembangan Produk Ekspor Ditjen PEN.
