Lie Sang Bong and TOTON: A COLLABORATION JFW DAN COUNCIL OF FASHION DESIGNERS OF KOREA
Jakarta Fashion Week collaborated with Council of Fashion Designers of Korea presented Lie Sang Bong, a renowned designer from Korea, and TOTON, one of Indonesia Fashion Forward’s designers and the winner of International Woolmark Prize 16/17 for womenswear for Asian Regional.
At the fashion show that held on Monday, October 24 2016 Lie Sang Bong unveiled Spring/ Summer 2017 Collections from ready-to-wear womenswear, menswear, and evening gowns. Sporty and street style were prevailed in the collections. Lie Sang Bong fused spectacularly architecture elements and calligraphy, cubism, Bauhaus Design, and Noir elements. The silhouettes in ready-to-wear were made in cut loose and volumetric accents. The evening gown were slightly more feminine.
For his collections, TOTON consistently combined the beauty of Indonesian nature and cultures in contemporary concepts. Soft colors such as white, grey, nude and black were dominated in his works. As opposed to Lie Sang Bong with his sporty style, TOTON applied more femininity in his collections. TOTON also offered few designs that suitable for office attires.
The collections from both designers were deserved our appreciation and furthermore, unquestionably justified to be on the same stage. The reason? Easy, it was the quality and the eccentric designs from Lie Sang Bong and TOTON. This collaboration was a legitimate proof of the advance of Indonesian and Republic of Korea’s fashion industry.
