New Exploration of Itang Yunasz
Itang Yunasz always be inspiring. Since his debut as a winner of Lomba Perancang Mode (LPM) in 1981, his career as a designer has never stops, even still in the top fashion designers of the country. Even after he decided to focus on the segment of the Islamic fashion, or now is known as a modest wear in 2000. His successful career cannot be separated from his efforts to dig and explore many things for the sake of enriching his designs.
After he was busy playing digital print with bright colors, now he explores the natural pattern and colors by brings the Kalimantan culture. It will dominating his designs in 2016. The result of his newest experiment and exploration is presented in his solo fashion show, on the day the second day of Jakarta Fashion Week 2016 at Fashion Tent, Senayan City.
We can feel the atmosphere of the remote Kalimantan through Itang Yunasz’s digital print design patterns, such as woven rattan roots, Ulap Doyo, ginger flower, kecombrang flower, to the typical enggang bird of Borneo. In order to add the exotica, Itang Yunasz chose the natural colors, such as brown, red soil, pale green, off white and black. For the materials itself, he used brocade, chiffon, cotton, crepe, satin, even taffeta and organdy for his collection.
For womenswear, Itang Yunasz presents a range of dress, abaya, kaftan, length skirt, to the long robe. While for menswear, he presents a variety of tunics, outer jacket from weaving material, loose shirt from lace, and so on. It is unusual, but interesting yet experimental. Itang Yunasz also added an adventurer atmosphere in his show. It can be seen though his complementary accessories such as pandanus hats and cloth hats, sunglasses, to peeptoe ankle boots, slingback sandals fringe, and a thick-soled loafers, as it is inviting the audiences to join a cultural expedition trip with him.
