Purana Batik Modernization

Though come up with the idea of Retro-Batik, the second performance of Purana on Jakarta Fashion Week on Sunday, 4 November 2012, still fully represented the modern side of batik. The technical time and place adjustment of this show didn’t affect the guests’ enthusiasm to adorn the show. Supported by LC Foundation, Purana unveiled its exhibition by presenting an empathy slide show in the beginning of the show dedicated to Wologai Tengah civilians, Nusa Tenggara Timur, who tragically lost their humble abode due to fire.
At this moment, Purana contributed the show in holiday theme, to wit: a loose silhouette of silk which would give relaxed impression. The batik was geometrically patterned with the touch of contemporary tribal and hence brought modern nuance. The technique to make batik tulis could be used to create a modern geometrical pattern without eliminating local tradition. The mingled pattern play really pulled together with the bustle of dynamic modern women, start from various multiuse tops, mini-jacket with asymmetric collar, palazzo pants, jumpsuit, to multi-material night gown.
The palettes of Retro-Batik collection were also incredibly compelling with the neutral earthy tone, rich orange and magenta, and vivid green. All of them were coherently unity and easy to mix and match. And as a complement, the collection of Sacre bags such as Anta clutch, hobo Miga bag, and Vola tote bag from goat leather, successfully espoused the color block they created as well as slew of Settu jewelry that was also appeared in this show.
