The Realization of Tex Saverio’s Dream

It is nice to see designers break out of their comfort zone. Playing with material, silhouette, and a whole new mindset makes them grow, both in terms of vision and technique. The perks for their loyal fans? Of course, the coming of their various exquisite collections in a harmonious rhythm. So it does with Tex Saverio, a notable designer in Indonesian fashion industry, who recently presented a line of ready-to-wear collection at Paris Fashion Week SS14.
Now, as part of Indonesia Fashion Forward programme initiated by the Jakarta Fashion Week, he collaborated with the British Council and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to re-present his latest collection to the public on 19 October, 2013, at Jakarta Fashion Week 2014.
Saverio brought up the theme “Fantasy Made Reality” by discharging the dramatic image that had been firmly attached to his name. The collection was created by using holographic material cut with a laser-cut technique. Translucent materials, such as organza and tulle with triacetate, were also used by this talented young designer so as to balance and give a light impression on each design.
With the dominance of black, chartreuse green, cerulean blue, champange red, and jet black, the collection seemed to be inspired by science fiction films because of the use of shiny materials. Saverio showcased not only ready-to-wear collection, but also two dashing night gowns with the concept “The New Evening Look”, which seemed more lighter than his previous designs.
Even though the context was ready-to-wear collection, it did not mean Saverio forgot his roots and switched to minimalist fashion aesthetics. It could be said that this year’s summer-spring collection was so intricate. Every piece of his clothing seemed to have gone through a long and complicated process of making. With his vision, Saverio invited us to redefine the mindset of how to dress through his works that was far from being ordinary. Therefore, his collections always made us stunned.
