Three Inspiring Figures

After being a successful and legendary automotive brand, Vespa has transformed into being a part of fashion, music, film and art industries. Vespa picked the theme “Vespa Inspirational” to show that it believes in inspiration and desires to inspire people from various generations and industries. On fourth day of the 2014 Jakarta Fashion Week, Vespa hosted the fashion show and presented the “Vespa Inspirational People” of creative industry, which were Kleting, Harry Halim and the violist Iskandar Widjaja.

Kleting with the label KLÉ consistently creates collections with a strong, free-spirited character, a distinct personality and confidence. Kleting showcased 27 pieces with boyish and edgy looks in monochrome colors like dark blue, brown and dirty gold. Through the theme “Insurgency”, Kleting wanted to show her interest in the industrial revolution which led to rebellion and freedom. The unique tops, pants, skirts and sweaters dominated this collection. Not only for women, Kleting also made five outfits for men with different cutting.

Harry Salim showcased his stunning ten Spring/Summer 2014 designs. Red dominated the “Vena” themed collection which was firstly launched at the Paris Fashion Week and was highly praised by the international media and buyers. For this collection, Henry developed various textiles and used hand-made crochet in creating a feminine and luxurious look. However, Harry still maintained his character which is dark beauty.

Iskandar Widjaja, a talented Indonesian violist, enlivened the show through two songs. Iskandar is one of the young musicians inspiring many people. His showstopper performance closed the Vespa show that night. (Tenni Purwanti/Pesona)
