Fun & Chic Journey

Jakarta Fashion Week 2014 not only presents the works of local designers, but also invites representatives from other countries to hold a fashion show as a form of friendship. Kaal E. Suktae, a designer from South Korea living in Paris, Amata and Watchara from Thailand will represent Asian countries.

Hans Ubbink, a Dutch designer well-known by the fashion public for his unique aesthetics design, will represent European countries. His SS14 collection was inspired by ancient transoceanic journey more than one century ago. This collection that had maritime vibe on it was translated into pleated skirt made from lightweight material that waved when walking, flare-cutting pants, and unisex brown blazer.

For men collection, the theme was literally applied in form of cruiser prints on the back of a blazer. Three quarter drawstring pants and other items appeared in the colors of orange, dark blue, and brown.

To promote SS14 collection, Ubbink’s humorous side played in the whimsy advertising campaign. By inviting The Dutch National Ballet, his latest collection looked so dynamic and elegant when it was worn by his dancers who turned out to be his models as well. No wonder if Ubbink has loyal fans and clients including famous Dutch public figures like Elle ten Damme, Bart Chabot, Huub Stapel, and Tommy Wieringa.

Can’t wait to witness the spectacular Ubbink’s collection at Jakarta Fashion Week 2014? Don’t miss out this show that can also be watch through live streaming at the website www.jakartafashionweek.co.id. (Yoland Handoko/Grazia)
