Collaboration Between Designers and Fashion Stylists

Jakarta, 3 November 2014. Ikatan Perancang Mode Indonesia (IPMI), the Indonesian fashion designer association, once again participated in Fashion Tent Jakarta Fashion Week 2015 today. Six designers, namely Tri Handoko, Yogie Pratama, Mel Ahyar, Stephanus Hamy, Carmanita, and Danny Satriadi, paired up with fashion stylists to create out of the box collections.
Handoko presented “Austere”, a collection inspired by the feelings of a woman abandoned forever by her lover. To create a modern look, Adi Surantha altered the collection with layering technique.
Pratama and stylist Kesya Moed Jenan revealed a row of cocktail and evening dresses with ball gown style. Voluminous cuts on silk satin shantung, lace, jacquard, feathers, and organdy dresses provided a feel of luxury without eliminating the classic hallmark. Floral motifs and abstract-patterned lace contributed to the overall feminine character of this collection.
Inspired by the history and culture of his hometown, Palembang, Ahyar invited Thornandes James to work together for a collection entitled “Suvarnabhumi”. Combining traditional embroidery with Diela Maharani’s digital print, Ahyar displayed a blend of eclectic historical and cultural concepts. The collection came in black and tan using tulle, satin, and organdy fabrics.
Hamy exhibited simple yet chic collection in “Chic & Clean”. The collection involved detailed touch on trumpet sleeves, draperies, to pleats on collared blouses. To enhance Hamy’s collection, Maya Svastiari added studded belts and gold bangles worn together with tulle.
Carmanita and Dewi Utari offered a collection of plain tops with bright embroidered floral details on the chest. Utari matched the tops with overlapping skirts and added batik for accents. Lastly, Satriadi collaborated with Rajasa Pramesywara to present “Arkamaya”, a chic and fresh ready-to-wear collection featuring bright boleros with drapery and embroidery details.
