Denim Appeal à la ZOYA
Established in 2005, ZOYA, a well-known Muslim fashion label, has invented a number of fashion lines. The label presented their denim line in Senayan City on the second day of Jakarta Fashion Week 2015, Sunday, 2 November 2014. This particular line was highlighted as ZOYA would like to call women with hijab (Muslim headscarves) to wear denim—a stylish, comfortable, and versatile fabric—in various activities.
The call was clearly visible through their runway collection. Denim pants and long skirts came in bright colors such as red, yellow, white, purple, and blue—a selection of colors related to ZOYA’s bright and colorful characters. The denim bottoms were combined with vivid shirts or loose tops made of cotton. Why cotton? Being lightweight and comfortable, the material still looks fashionable for different occasions, whether it is for casual or for work.
The theme “Rise in Japan” was displayed in a variety of accents. For instance, ZOYA introduced hijab application which resembled origami. The models’ lips were also adorned with a unique lipstick application which reminded us of the style of geishas. In addition to that, ZOYA tinkered with other headscarf styles, such as turban and capuchon, Some of them were even encrusted with Swarovski crystals for a more glamorous look. To create that style, ZOYA cooperated with Swarovski Singapore.
