Indonesian Cotton Candy Flavor in Obin’s Version

Sweet, gentle and sunny. That were the impression after watching the fashion show entitled “I am Indonesia” by BIN House on the sixth day of Jakarta Fashion Week 2015, 6th November 2014, sponsored by the Permata Bank Priority. Held at 13:00, this fashion show which lasted for about one hour, presented the outstanding “attraction”.
This show was opened by a collection of ancient Javanese Batik cloth that wrapped around the waist. Obin successfully made that traditional motif of batik looks more modern. Barefoot, the models with the bun walked casually and gave the sweetest smile to the audience. There wasn’t model’s pretentious walk. As the accessory, there was just a jasmine chain or scarf wrapped around their neck.  Whole models wore plain fitted tops on beige color which more accentuate the ancient Javanese batik cloth as their signature.
Obin rocked the Fashion Tent of Jakarta Fashion Week whenever the song of Marilah ke Mari sounded and the models with more casual batik appeared. Sleeveless tops, Capri pants, and asymmetrical skirt with lightweight blouse dominated the BIN House collection. This time, sneaker became their accessory. Just like the past sequence, the pretentious model’s walk replaced with the rapid strides varied also with a little jog. It was energetic and cheerful.
Through this fashion show, Obin seemingly wanted to represent the diversity and the modernity of Indonesia. With a song from Adele, Someone Like you in keroncong version, appeared a formal collection, pretentious and elegant. Orange traditional Javanese kebaya, collaborated with black tissue for the bottom and blue scarf. Sheer batik silk, with the lightweight tops with circles motifs dominated her collection.
At the end of the show, this designer who wants to be called as tukang kain was back playing with the bright colors. The bright green casual kebaya as the top paired with saffron yellow batik tissue and bright pink scarf. There was also bright red sleeveless top with long tail on back.
The attention stealer was the cheongsam bright blue tops paired with bright pink batik tissue and bright yellow scarf. Came along with the song of Nyiur Melambai, the models paraded on the stage, brought the white and red scarf above their head whenever Obin came out with her simple kebaya in bright blue, brought the jasmine chain and red scarf, and then dangdut’s song from Pantai Utara sounded. Really, I’m a real Indonesia.
