Japanese Designers Enlivened Jakarta Fashion Week 2015

Want to witness the creations of Japanese designers? No need to fly all the way to the Land of Sakura! Thanks to the collaboration between Jakarta Fashion Week and Japan Fashion Week Organization (the organizer of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo), Indonesian fashionistas could enjoy the latest collections of Motonari Ono, Hideaki Sakaguchi, and Tamae Hirokawa in Jakarta Fashion Week 2015. The Japanese designers presented their collections on Sunday, 2 November 2014, in Fashion Tent Senayan City, Jakarta.
Sakaguchi made use of the opportunity to launch the Spring/Summer 2015 collection of his original label, Mannequins JAPON. The collection featured fifteen looks, most of which were adorned with headscarves resembling Muslim hijab. Flaunting black and white as the dominant colors, the designer neatly applied stripe and plaid patterns on various jackets, coats, trousers, and shirts.
Ono, hauling his label Om, also exhibited fifteen of his works. Ono’s collection exuded a sensual impression due to the dominant use of lace accents on hip and thigh parts. Furthermore, Ono utilized layering and drapery techniques to produce attractive, colorful clothing, ranging from orange, green, maroon, magenta, pink, to pastel.
Hirokawa began to be known by Japanese fashion market after the successful launching of “Skin Series”, a body wear collection which explored the connection between clothes and human body silhouette, in 2006. In the same year, Hirokawa also launched “SOMARTA” project and established “SOMA DESIGN”. In Jakarta Fashion Week 2015, the designer showcased fifteen of SOMARTA’s latest designs. The collection had almost similar motifs, such as the combination of leaves with stripe graphics.
