Processed Timor Weaves for Five Bye Bye Big Female Icons

Indonesian traditional fabrics seem like an endless source of inspiration for local designers. Anthony Bachtiar is an example. On the fourth day of Jakarta Fashion Week 2015, Tuesday, 4 November, 2014, the Javadiva designer held a fashion show entitled “Far Eastern Dream”. Located in Fashion Atrium Senayan City, Jakarta, Bachtiar’s show was also supported by Women’s Health Magazine in cooperation with “Bye Bye Big” (BBB) Weight Management Program by Roche Indonesia.
For the show, Bachtiar processed the iconic weaves of Timor Island while maintaining the beauty and iridescence of the fabrics. Bachtiar’s technique created silhouettes which complemented female silhouette, making women look slimmer, sportier, and livelier.
Five BBB 2015 icons—Pracilia Pracoyo, Ayu Putu Madri Dewi, Gizela Linda, Elti Sufiyanti, and Regina Hamada—walked on the runway with twelve professional models to display Bachtiar’s collection. The five women, who were chosen from hundreds of applicants, have put on so much effort to be there. They had to follow a weight loss program under the guidance of dr. Samuel Oetoro, Sp.GK and dr. Michael Triangto, Sp.KO, train hard with personal trainers from Gold’s Gym, and attend grooming classes from Women’s Health Indonesia, with support from Reebok Indonesia. Finally, they succeeded to achieve their ideal weight and walk on the runway of Jakarta Fashion Week. What a dream comes true!
Chief Community Officer/Editor in Chief Women’s Health Indonesia, Pangesti “Chichi” Bernardus, wished that the fashion show can spearhead a program that cares about women’s health, especially related to body weight. “Indonesians need a reference on how to lose weight in a healthy way, and this BBB’s guide is one of the answers. Hopefully, the five women whom we have successfully helped to lose weight can inspire other women to do the same for the sake of their own health,” said Chichi.
