Bateeq’s Eternal Love

Even batik is a cultural heritage that hereditary since many years ago, it isn’t always known as the old fashion trend, even it becomes an up to date fashion trend. This concept presented by bateeq, a fashion brand from Efrata Retailindo company, in the Jakarta Fashion Week 2015, Thursday 6th November 2014.
Located in Fashion Atrium Senayan City, Jakarta, Bateeq carried “Tumaruntum” as their themed for ready-to-wear summer collection 2015. Pink, blue, green, white and black dominated the woman collection on the stage. The truntum batik paired nicely with duchess, chiffon and polyester’s materials. So, no wonder if the beauty of that motif became the inspiration for this collection which signified the everlasting love that keeps growing.
According to the history, truntum was created by Kanjeng Ratu Kencana (the queen of Sunan Paku Buwana III) as the symbol of unconditional and eternal true love that keeps growing up (tumaruntum). In Javanese culture, that motif worn by the parents of the bride and the groom on the wedding day, expected the eternal love for the newlyweds.
The beauty of the meaning of truntum was visualized by bateeq into 24 clothing. They were billowy dress, lightweight shirt and top with culottes and flirty skirts. That clothing which intended for urban women was divided in two categories, formal and informal, so it could be paired with heels or sandals in the day and night.
Beside the woman collection, Bateeq had also man and kids collection. The materials were various, from traditional handmade, modern materials, up to the mixture of those materials. Those products were available with price ranging from Rp 150.000 up to 12 million rupiahs. Especially for the market segment for people aged 45 upwards, Bateeq through Batik Solo brand provides premium traditional materials, such as batik cap, batik tulis, silk batik and batik doby.
