The Modern Face of Baduy Weave
Do you know that Baduy culture and traditions are hidden gems for Indonesian fashion? Amanda I. Lestari proved this in “Partspective”, a fashion show on the final day of Jakarta Fashion Week 2015, 7 November 2014. Lestari with her line, LEKAT, stole the spotlight in Fashion Tent by presenting gorgeous Baduy weave in her designs.
LEKAT’s latest collection combined traditional with pop art elements to create colorful apparel in quirky cuts. Uniquely, some of the audience in the show was seen wearing this collection. It seemed that Lestari has stolen the hearts of fashionistas through her creations.
LEKAT revealed various types of apparel—from long dresses, casual dresses, blouses, to miniskirts with urban details. Furthermore, the designer also applied her unique style on tote bags, hand bags, and footwear.
At the end of the show, LEKAT gave another surprise by featuring a number of public figures. Director Nia Dinata, actress Laudya Cynthia Bella, and singer Shelomita, among others, looked beautiful and captivating while walking on the runway in LEKAT’s designs.
A number of woven fabrics in LEKAT’s collection are made to order in a limited quantity. If you are interested to place an order, please contact Fashionlink Femina Group.
